The Gunners started the match slowly, but took the lead in the 10th minute through Mesut Ozil. A swift counterattack from Danny Welbeck led to Olivier Giroud setting up Ozil, who cooly converted from six yards out. Despite falling behind, Mauricio Pochettino's side continued to dominate the first-half and forced David Ospina to make a string of saves.
