Arsenal blow as £35m target pens new four-year Sporting contract
Arsenal have been hit with a transfer blow after long-term target William Carvalho has signed a new contract with Sporting Lisbon, Mirror reports. The 23-year-old emerged as a midfield candidate for manager Arsene Wenger during the recent winter window, but the Frenchman instead signed Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel. He is now set to remain with the Portuguese giants until 2020 and is believed to have also seen his release clause rise from £29million to £35million.
