Phil Thompson Happy Liverpool Beat Arsenal For James Milner
It has been reported that former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has lauded the club for signing James Milner. The 29-year old midfielder has agreed terms with the Reds and will join from Manchester City on a free transfer on July 1. Anfield great Thompson believes Milner will be a good replacement for departing captain Steven Gerrard. “I love his attitude, I love his ability, and I think it is a terrific signing for Liverpool,” Thompson told Sky Sports. “He’s got to play in central midfield as much as he can. I was watching Sky Sports News HQ after the news broke and I think I saw he had seven assists last season, whereas Steven Gerrard only had one assist from more games....
