Arsenal’s Alexis Sánchez named PFA fans’ player of the season
Alexis Sánchez has been named the PFA fans’ player of the season after an impressive first year with Arsenal. More than 200,000 votes were counted since the 10-man shortlist was announced at the start of this month, with Sánchez beating Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero to the award. The 26-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer in a £30m transfer from Barcelona. He has quickly set about repaying the fee, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists in his first Premier League season. The Chilean’s performances also saw him make the six-strong shortlist for the PFA player of the year award.
