Per Mertesacker says it's vital that Arsenal put the defeat to Swansea behind them and get back to winning ways in order to avoid a Champions League qualifier at the beginning of next season. With a summer break potentially only two months long, the rest period for players is shorter than usual, and with some involved in summer tournaments like the Copa America, the Gold Cup, and the European U21 Championships, Arsenal would prefer not to have such a competitive game so early in the new campaign.
