Result: Danny Welbeck bags brace as Arsenal see off Southampton
Arsenal have clinched a battling 3-2 win over Southampton in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Emirates as Danny Welbeck grabbed a vital brace and both sides finished with ten men. Despite having just one win in 18 games, the Saints began brightly and, within eight minutes, were cutting through a slovenly Gunners backline with ease. Jack Stephens and Shane Long combined to work the ball to James Ward-Prowse, who beat the onrushing Petr Cech but saw his effort cleared off the line.
